Garden Route Adventure Activities

Garden Route Adventure Activities

The Garden Route is paradise for anyone searching for pure adventure. Below are just a few examples of the Garden Route adventure activities that are available to the avid adventure lover. Contact us and we will combine your stay at The Plettenberg with a few day tours.

Tubing

For the ultimate tubing experience, visit the Storms River, which is both magical and scenic. Start off by climbing down a "rope ladder" into the almost unreachable canyon and end at the suspension bridge across the river in the Tsitsikama National Park. Can you imagine anything more exhilarating?

Bungee jumping

This one is for serious adrenalin junkies. Bloukrans Bridge in Plettenberg has been recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the highest commercial bungee jump in the world at a whopping 216 m high!

Scuba diving

If it's diversity you are looking for in diving, South Africa’s Garden Route is the right place to explore, thanks to its enormously long coastline. Rent out equipment and enjoy some of the most beautiful dive spots along the scenic Garden Route. Mossel Bay is a favorite diving spot among the locals, who are drawn to the pristine shores and abundance of sea life within the warm waters. Mossel Bay is an ideal location for certified divers.

Sky Diving

There are plenty areas along the Garden Route where you are able to go sky diving. After a morning lesson complete with professional training, you should be able to skydive on your own that very same afternoon. And if you don’t fancy the morning lessons, you could receive a short briefing, after which you should be ready to dive with a tandem master while taking in spectacular imagery of the lush Garden Route.

Horse riding trails

Gallop along the fine sandy beaches and rugged terrain of the Garden Route. Take in the fresh indigenous air along one of the numerous horse trails designed specifically for horse riding adventures.Soak up the wonders that nature has to offer and experience the splendour of the Garden Route from a great vantage point!

Township tours

Experience the interactive cross-cultural tours to Qolweni Township. This is an exclusive genuine prospect of visiting and helping to develop essential facilities such as local clinics and schools for this disadvantaged community.

Whale watching

The Garden Route is the prime position for whale watching in South Africa. There are just so many chances of catching these large water mammals from the shores of most towns situated along the garden route like Hermanus, Mossel Bay and Knysna, during the whale’s mating season.

Shark Cage Diving

This is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with the Great White Sharks. This is all in the comfort of a metallic cage, which is lowered into the water infested with Great Whites. If going into the depths of the ocean in a cage is not your idea of fun then there we recommend the more sensible option of remaining in the boat, from where shark viewing is also possible.

Crocodile Cage diving

This super extraordinary aquatic ecstasy has just been launched in Oudtshoorn with the world's first crocodile cage dive. Courageous and adrenalin eager visitors over the age of 12 are lowered in a specially designed croc-proof cage into a clear heated crocodile pool occupied by five large Nile crocodiles!

Quad biking

Riding on quad bikes is another great way of exploring the numerous indigenous forests and national parks along the Garden Route. Visitors have an opportunity to view wildlife such as zebras, giraffe, kudu, impalas, and waterbuck, while gaining optimum bird’s eye view of the Mossel Bay region.

Tsitsikamma Canopy tour

The Tsitsikamma Canopy tour is the first activity of this kind offered anywhere in Africa , and offers you the opportunity to slide in a harness between 10 tree top platforms while attached to a professional guide. The canopy tours have proved to be very popular and we highly recommend the tours for those that are interested in seeing the Tsitsikamma Forest from a birds eye view.
